Laser Hair Removal

We all know how messy and painful shaving, waxing and tweezing can be. Just imagine no more razors no more waxing. At Distill Laser Clinic with over 20 years of experience you can now have smooth hair free skin.

How it works

Hair grows in 3 stages, ANAGEN (active growth), CATAGEN (shedding) and TELOGEN (resting). The laser will only work on hair that is in the anagen stage.

The laser energy is absorbed by melanin (colour) in the hair. It travels down the hair shaft and causes thermal damage to the follicle and inhibits further growth.

After each treatment, it will take the targeted hairs 2-3 weeks to be pushed out of the hair follicle. During this time it will appear as though the hair is continuing to grow as normal, but then just begin to fall out of the skin. No waxing, tweezing, plucking or threading of the hairs should be done between treatments.

How does the GentleMAX treatment work?

The GentleMAX works by thermally damaging the hair follicle, resulting in a permanent reduction of hair growth. The GentleMax Pro is a dual-wavelength laser platform that combines the fastest and most powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser with an equally powerful 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser, in a single delivery system for effective laser hair removal.
The GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal treatments are the most comfortable for you because of Candela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™), which prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer of skin with a cooling burst of cryogen milliseconds before the laser pulse. DCD helps ensure that the treatments are as comfortable as they are effective.

FAQ

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Some Clients Will Gain From Only 3 To 4 Treatment Sessions. But, 4 To 8 Treatments Are Most Often Needed To Achieve Permanency, Because Of The hair growth cycle. Treatments are generally four to six weeks between treatments.

Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatments?

It is important not to remove hair by plucking, tweezing and waxing strictly shaving during the entire course of treatment before and during. This ensures that as many hair follicles as possible contain a hair and thus can be destroyed by the light. It is important to avoid tanning and extreme sun exposure before and during the treatment period to avoid the tanned skin from absorbing more light, which makes treatments less effective.

Does it hurt?

The treatment sensation varies from area to area and from client to client. Most clients describe the sensation as quite mild almost like the snapping of a rubber band accompanied by a bit of heat sensation.
